The annual Marianist Founders Day Mass and Celebration is an opportunity for the local Marianist Family to gather and celebrate our common mission, history, and to give thanks for the ways God has been working in the local Marianist Family. This year, our Mass will be held on Saturday January 18th at 4PM at the QAC Chapel at Mount St. John with a reception to follow in the Bergamo Center.

In preparation for the Dayton Area Marianist Founders’ Day celebration on Saturday, January 18, we are reaching out to all Marianist Communities to encourage your participation on that day and through sharing about your community initiatives. There are two aspects of this day that we are requesting your participation so this may truly be a "family" celebration!

The 2nd Sunday of Ordinary Time readings for that day call us to live out our Baptismal commitment in service: “I will make you a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.” (Is. 49:6) Based on this theme we ask the following:

  • We ask each community to designate one representative to carry a candle in the opening procession.

  • We are also seeking a “sentence” or two about how your community has been of service in the past year or how you bring light to the world.

We’ll creatively incorporate your words into elements of the Eucharist such as in the welcome, a reflection during the presentation of gifts or into the intercessory prayers.

We want the Founders’ celebration to have representation and participation from all of our Marianist communities and institutions. We welcome musicians and singers to join the music ministry. We also need gift bearers, readers, Eucharistic Ministers, greeters, and readers of the intercessory prayers.

Over the past year, our Zeal team has been creating a slide show that features all of our communities & organizations/entities, our solidarity initiatives (Dakota Center, Mission of Mary & Corpus Christi/Five Oaks) and our events. We plan to share the entire slide show during the reception to further highlight the many ways our Marianist communities are of service and bring “light to the nations." To see the current slideshow, with the images and information we already have, please click here.

We are asking that each community--if they have not done so--submit 1 or 2 slides to include or update your community’s photos. These slides could also include a statement about your mission, etc.

In summary, here are the various areas we are requesting involvement:

____ Representative from your community to bear a candle in the opening  procession

____ A sentence about how your community is of service or brings light to the world, to be used in an element of the liturgy

____ Slides of your community gathered (you can include your name/mission elements) ____ Slides of your community in action of service.

____ Musicians & Choir singers

____ Gift bearers

____ Readers for Scriptures or Petitions

____ Eucharistic Ministers

____ Greeters

____ Help with planning the event with the DMFC Zeal team

Please send your images, your sentence and interest in volunteering for any roles to either Brent Devitt or Sr. Leanne Jablonski with “Marianist Founders Day” in the subject line by January 10th! Thanks so much!
